The Challenge:

A Legacy Brand in a Changing Industry

Despite serving hundreds of transit agencies and offering a complete ecosystem of hardware, software, and services, Genfare’s website no longer reflected their true scope or leadership in the industry. The outdated site was overly focused on fareboxes, difficult to update, and failed to support Genfare’s broader positioning as a full-solution provider.

In an industry where transit agencies make infrequent, high-stakes purchasing decisions, Genfare needed a website that could build credibility, educate stakeholders, and support long-term procurement cycles.

Our Solution:

A Digital Platform Built for Leadership

We partnered with Genfare to create a modern, future-ready website that reflects their full-service capabilities and leadership in fare management. From messaging to design to development, every element was reimagined to elevate their brand, highlight their end-to-end solutions, and reinforce their position as a trusted partner to legacy transit agencies.

Designed to serve a well-informed audience of long-term decision-makers, the new site acts as a symbol of Genfare’s reliability, innovation, and thought leadership. It also lays the groundwork for continued growth and relevance in an evolving industry.

Immersing Ourselves in the Industry

To better understand Genfare’s solutions and their role in the evolving transit landscape, our team attended APTAtech in Denver. We explored their products firsthand, sat in on sales demos and presentations, and gained valuable insight into the technologies shaping fare collection and mobility.

This experience gave us the clarity needed to translate complex offerings into a clear, user-friendly digital experience.

From the client

When changes in leadership, direction, and branding put our website revamp on hold, Gravitate stuck with us and helped us pull it off on schedule despite the delays. Their tool for writing to the wireframe was very helpful and helped us stay on track to get the content right from the beginning without having to rework word counts. They also rolled with some last minute changes to brand colors and look and applied them across the board. Maintaining the site has been simple with all the styles already set up.

Site Features:

Translating Strategy into Engagement

The new site was built to do more than look modern—it was designed to work hard. From intuitive content structure to interactive features and a flexible backend, every detail helps simplify complex solutions, address real-world transit challenges, and make ongoing site management easy.

Persona-Led Content Paths

To humanize what can feel like a highly technical industry, we created dynamic Q&A-style content blocks around real questions transit professionals ask during the buying journey. By putting those questions into plain language—like how to adapt to shifting rider expectations—we made the content feel personal, relatable, and actionable.

Each response links to a relevant Genfare solution, helping users explore new ideas and connect challenges to solutions in a meaningful way.

Interactive Product Imagery

We developed interactive image modules that let visitors explore Genfare’s core hardware, including the Fast Fare farebox, handheld validators, and POS terminals. Users can click through to discover features and see how each product supports real-world transit operations in a clear, engaging way.

Educational Content That Builds Authority

Starting from a limited baseline, we helped Genfare develop a deep library of educational resources designed to inform, inspire, and build trust. The content supports long, research-heavy buying cycles, ranks well in search engines, and reinforces Genfare’s authority with anyone exploring their solutions.

The Results

This wasn’t just a redesign. Genfare needed a digital platform that reflected the depth of their solutions and the strength of their reputation. We delivered a site that clarified their value, created human connection, and positioned them as a forward-thinking leader in fare management—building credibility, increasing engagement, and setting the stage for long-term growth.

Our Thoughts

I first connected with the Genfare team at APTAtech, and it was great to meet them in that environment while also getting a sense of the industry landscape. Collaborating with their team on the website was a rewarding experience—especially working on the interactive sections. Those features really bring the site to life and add a layer of engagement that helps showcase their solutions in a dynamic way.

Jason Lance, Creative Director

Building the website for Genfare, a subsidiary of our long-time client SPX Technologies, was an exciting opportunity to support a nationwide leader in fare management. Our focus was on creating a site that clearly communicates their full range of solutions and reflects the innovation they bring to over 400 transit agencies across North America.
